莱利Lockett

Riley is entering his senior year as a Film student at New York University. When I first arrived at OA, I was afraid that I wouldn’t adjust there. From the outset, Jeff and Catherine introduced themselves and showed a great interest in me. 在我的四年里, 杰夫激励我热爱历史和政府, and both Jeff and Catherine inspired me to improve my writing. One of the teachers asked me and several other students to be ambassadors for OA. My wife and I stayed in contact after that exchange and eventually started dating. 现在我们幸福地结婚了.

Deciding on a high school can be an overwhelming and daunting process. I knew I needed a school that provided individual attention and dedicated teachers, 但我不知道什么样的大学预科项目可以适应我的学习差异. I was lucky to hear about a small private school called North Bay Orinda. 我还记得接受罗恩·格雷顿(Ron Graydon)的采访，以及我对阿尔塔林达路(Altarinda Road)上那所小小的校园的敬畏之情. Something told me that this would be a place where I could thrive, and I was right!

There is no question that my writing and math skills were sharpened at 位学院. However, 这是我学到的最重要的一课, which I later took with me to Earlham College and into my career as a therapist and coach, is that it is ok to “learn differently” and that one can still be successful. It is quite possible that without a school like 位学院, I would have fallen through the cracks and never had the opportunity to be where I am today. That is why it is so important that OA exists and can help other students like me!

I had been kicked out of Monte Vista High School my sophomore year. 我是一个朋克摇滚手/滑板手, 不怀好意, and was sent to a local continuation school called Del Amigo.
